CitiRental Pick Up Notes

Ensure that you bring all the required documents with you when arriving at CitiRental to pick up your car or van rental from us.

DVLA | Driver Vehicle and Licencing Authority

  • A booking by phone or online is a ‘request only’ and becomes a booking once confirmed by CitiRental.
  • A UK driving licence does not include a record of any driving endorsements such as speeding. The insurance company need to know if drivers have any driving endorsements before you start you rental. This information is provided by the DVLA to CitiRental by way of a Share Code.
  • CitiRental will obtain the Share Code from the DVLA giving the essential driving information when the following details are put into the DVLA system. 

You will be requested to provide the following information:

  1. Drivers Licence Number 
  2. Post Code as printed on the licence. 
  3. National Insurance (NI) Number **

** All drivers must provide this information unless they hold an acceptable foreign driving licence

  • Once these details are downloaded the DVLA will send us a Share Code with your  licence information. Please ask if in doubt – Call 0207 722 6666 
  • We will apply for the Share Code for you, or you can provide the code yourself  through the DVLA site.  
  • Foreign Licence holders are not subject to these conditions.  

Driver Limitations

Drivers must be older than 23 and younger than 72 and must have had more than two years  driving experience on a full licence.  

When collecting your car

We will request three items:

(1) Your credit/debit card for the purpose of charging the deposit and your rental fees in  advance.  

(2) One form of printed address I.D. (nothing more than 2 months old) for example:

Suggestions to prove permanent address:
(i) A Council Tax demand
(ii) A letter from the NHS
(iii) A letter from a government department
(iv) A letter from HMRC

If in doubt what to bring, call us before collection – 0207 722 6666 – we will assist you. Don’t leave it until you arrive. If your information is not sufficient or incorrect it may seriously delay collection.

(3) Sight of your actual driving licence: NB Additional Drivers must also bring their  actual licence. Driving licence copies are not acceptable.  

NOTE | Foreign licences must be legible, understood by us and written in Latin characters.  Valid International Driving Permits are acceptable. An official legal translation provided by an  Embassy or Consulate may be acceptable. If in doubt, ask us before vehicle collection. Call  0207 722 6666
